Challenges caused by global food economy
There are several challenges resulting from global food economy. It has disenfranchised the rural communities leading uprooting of rural families to pave way for commercial production. As a result, social and economic institutions in the villages are either consolidated or transferred to other areas. This has led to death of culture and way of life of the rural communities. Global food economy has blamed the village food producers of inefficiency thus supporting eviction of farmers from the rural areas. Moreover, villagers who are uprooted from their villages migrate to the urban areas where social amenities and other resources overstretched leading to acts of violence and ethnic conflicts (Norberg-Hodge, et al., 2002).
