Arnaut Daniel is one of the most recognized French poets. He was recognized in the late 1100 as a master poet. He composed complex metrics and intricate rhymes with proverbial words that meant more that what could be heard. Arnaut was a nobleman and who is recognized for his traveling. Daniel has been credited for inventing the sestina, which is a poem with six stanzas of six lines each with the same words repeated in each stanza. This style was influential in the 20th century, especially to Dante, Petrarch and Eliot. Arnaut was imitated by Dante, he also recognized him as a model vernacular poet.
